We are thrilled to announce that Heart Math Tutoring will continue virtually at MPTS this Fall and we are in need of tutors! Heart Math Tutoring is geared towards students in grades 3-5 and is a fun, effective way to make a difference in just 30-60 minutes per week. With the support of an on-site coordinator, volunteers will use an easy-to-follow, proven curriculum that features hands-on activities and games. Tutors will work with a student that has been identified as being below grade level in elementary math and the best news is that 98% of students tutored to date have met program growth goals.
The new virtual format will consist of a 2:1 format with both tutors being present for the whole tutoring session and alternating between "lead" and "observer" roles. All volunteers will have full access to a Coordinator who will be present at every session. Tutoring for the entire 2020/2021 school year will be held virtually regardless of whether children return to in person school at any point. This is an invaluable asset for our MPTS students that need a little boost and we need your help! Sign-up to volunteer and if you have any questions please contact MPTS parent, Kristy Burleigh. Kristy has served as Heart Math Tutors at other CMS schools and will be happy to answer any questions you have. |
