Myers Park Traditional School's Staff Appreciation Week is next week March 22nd - 26th! This year, more than any other, our MPTS Teachers, Staff and Administration have shown all of us what Superheroes really are. Not all heroes wear capes, but ours all wear masks!
Each homeroom class is partnered with a special Staff Member so everyone feels the love! You should have received an email with your class pairings but if you did not or if you have any questions please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Here’s how we can make our teachers and staff feel extra special!
Monday: Make sure your teacher and staff member have the energy for Superhero work. Bring in a favorite snack or treat. For a list of your teacher and staff member’s favorite treats, click here.
The PTA is fueling our staff with Super Smoothies!
Tuesday: Make your teacher and staff member a homemade card and let them know why they are SUPER!
The PTA is providing a special snack for staff!
Wednesday: Dress as your Favorite Superhero for your Zoom class!
The PTA is treating staff to Chick-fil-A breakfast!
Thursday: Even superheroes need to stop and smell the roses. Send a few beautiful flowers for your teacher and staff member to enjoy.
The PTA is hosting a virtual Lois B. Lee Luncheon to honor our Superheroes!
Friday: Superheroes have feelings too. Make your teacher and staff member’s day by emailing them one thing you like about them.
The PTA is preparing barbecue for our Superheroes to enjoy for lunch!
Below is the current information regarding COVID-19 updates at Myers Park Traditional school as of March 13, 2020 at 2:00pm. We will be posting updates on the PTA Website as they come in to help keep our families informed.
As of the end of day, March 13, 2020, CMS is cancelling all volunteer support in schools. This includes, but is not limited to, tutoring (including Heart Math), all PTA activities, reading buddies, lunch with your student, class parties, all before and after school clubs, etc... This DOES NOT include ASEP which will continue to run as scheduled.
Staff Appreciation Week kicks off at MPTS on Monday, March 9th! On Thursday, March 12th we will announce the winner of the annual Lois B. Lee Teacher of the Year Award at a very special catered luncheon for the entire MPTS staff. In order for all teachers to attend, we must have two registered CMS volunteers to cover each classroom from 11:15am - 12:45pm, during the luncheon. We realize this is a large time commitment, but hope you will consider covering your child's class, a favorite past teacher's class, or even the class of a friend, so that ALL teachers may attend the luncheon. If you are able to volunteer please sign-up below, many classes still need 2 volunteers.
Don't miss this year's Daughter Choice Dance, bring your best moves and dance on Friday, February 7th from 7:00pm - 9:00pm at CPCC's Worrell Building Gymnasium located at 1228 Elizabeth Avenue in Charlotte. Tickets are $20.00 per adult/daughter couple ($10 per additional daughter) and must be purchased - in advance - online. Our theme this year is "Boots & Beauties" so saddle up and join us for an evening you won't want to miss!
Note: This event is for MPTS students only and there will be no tickets sold at the door. The deadline to purchase tickets is February 6th and there will be NO refunds as advance purchases are considered a PTA donation.
*In addition, we are in need of a few volunteers to help before, during, and after the dance. Volunteers are CRITICAL to the success of this event. If you are able to assist, please SIGN-UP to help. Thanks in advance!**
"Family Code Night" is a whole-school, whole-family MPTS event for kids grades K-5 and their parents. You'll play in parent-child teams to complete fun Code.org puzzles and challenges at your own pace, and learn core concepts in coding. Afterwards, you'll go home with a special "Code On at Home" guide to continue coding puzzles, learning and fun at home. No coding experience needed, laptops available if needed, a great experience to share with your kids!
5:30pm - 7:15pm
The program is free, but space is limited, so please sign up today!
Parents who want to help out as event Volunteers are welcome. And parents and kids with tech experience, or kids who have done the "Hour of Code" already, are encouraged to register as Code Coaches. We'll send you an advance prep memo and we'll meet up a few minutes early for orientation. We'll see you at Family Code Night! If you have any questions please contact Cathy Moore, Greg Boehm, or Mrs. Connor.
